I am trying not to beat myself up over it, but I made a mistake that I never want to make again. My day went great food wise yesterday, then I did the same work out I love doing. My mistake was that I went to the gym hungry. So while I was watching the TV when working out, all of the tempting food commercials came on, you know the ones I am talking about. That made me even more hungry but not for anything I had at home, or anything healthy. I wanted a Big Mac and fries! After the gym I actually went to McDonald's and got it! I still regret it but now I know what I need to do differently. I need to eat a protein bar before working out. I hope I don't make this mistake a habit!

Diet Vs Lifestyle
It's been said time and time again, it's much easier to lose weight when you make a lifestyle change rather than go on s diet. I strongly believe that both are equally hard but if you can do one, you can do the other.
I think when one says they are on a diet, it means they are going to go off of it when they lose an amount of weight that they are pleased with. If you go off your diet, eventually you'll gain some, if not all of the weight back. If you vow to make your diet a part of your life, you are on the right track.
When you make a lifestyle change, making healthy choices become a way of life. You go work out simply because you want to stay healthy and feel good. If you do eat fast food or a piece of cake... don't beat yourself up! You're not going off of your diet because you're not on one. As long as you don't make it a habit, you can get past it. You deserve to treat yourself every once in awhile anyway!

Yesterday wasn't the best of days food wise. I ate my meal plans I set out for myself plus I had some Halloween candy and chicken tenders. I usually work out after my daughter is in bed, by the time that came around I was curled up in my bed not wanting to move except to scarf down the Taco Bell burrito that my husband offered me. When he asked me if I was going to the gym I opened one eye and mumbled "I had planned on it". I decided to pass up the burrito, get up and get dressed for the gym. That was a really hard choice to make but it was the healthy one!
I did the same work out as the day before, on the treadmill with the incline. It really is a good work out and I absolutely love that I can watch whatever I want on TV while I do it. I watch shows like TMZ and Friends. Shows I would normally watch while lying in my bed. I just imagine myself lying down and watching TV, the time seems to fly! I really love working out and how it makes me feel. I can't wait to go back today!

All in all, yesterday was a pretty good day. About an hour before I left to work out, I was super hungry and on the verge of a binge. I decided to add a TBsp of natural unsalted chunky peanut butter to some Plain Chobani and it was amazing! It was much better than a the pumpkin muffin from Costco that I almost ate. At half of the calories and 10X the protein, this was a great choice.
I ate about 1100 calories and burned about 400 cal at the gym, putting me at 700 net and my goal is 800 net, so I think I did fabulously well! No one was at the gym when I was last night, so I used one of the fancy shmancy tredmills and it had a tv on it, where 5 could change the channel rather than straining my eyes to watch one of the 4 on the wall, which most of the stuff isn't my first choice to watch anyway. It was a great distraction to all of the calories I was burning! Although I kept wanting to quit, I finished and I was so proud of myself when I was done. I can't wait to hit the gym tonight and I hope to be able to snag the same treadmill and do the same workout but push my speed a little higher.
Untill next time,
Elle

Snack with a POP!
So I made some super yummy popcorn for my 3:00 snack. I made 2 kinds, Cinnamon "Sugar" and "Salt & Butter". One cup of my popped pop corn is about 75 calories, it's the perfect snack and it fills you up. So here is my recipe.
Elle's Stove Top Popcorn
1 Cup of white pop corn kernels
1/2 Cup of a low fat imitation butter
1 Large pot with handles and lid
Melt 1/2 cup butter on the pot
add 1 cup pop corn kernels
shake the pot until every kernel is covered with butter
cover the pot with the lid
Make sure that the kernels get stirred in the pot every minute or so
It should take about 10 minutes
once the kernels are popping 30 seconds apart, it's done!
add cooking spray to the popcorn so the topping sticks
Cinnamon Sugar
Add cinnamon to taste and 3 or 4 packets or truvia
Butter and Salt
Use butter flavor cooking spray and add nu-salt to taste
ENJOY!

My Grocery Trip
So, the other people that live in my house rarely eat veggies and when they do, it's drowning in cheese sauce. So I went to the store today to get some yummy stuff that won't wreck my diet. Here is what I got...
Special K Protein Bars
These seemed to me like a perfect fix when I am in a hurry or if I have a sweet tooth. I picked the Strawberry (which is 90 cal) and the Chocolatey Peanut Butter from the Fiber Plus Antioxidants line (130 cal but bigger than the 90 cals).
Oranges
Oranges are full of all the right things and since this is my daughter's favorite fruit of the moment, they were a no-brainer.
Grapefruit
Since grapefruit is the ideal breakfast, I decided to get some so that I can have half a grapefruit with truvia most mornings. Truvia is a fabulous thing for me when it comes to grapefruit because I will only eat it if I can have a ton of sugar on it, which is kind of counter-productive isn't it?
Baby Spinach
Spinach is my favorite type of salad anyway, and I LOVE salads, so I would have got it if I were on a diet or not.
Alfalfa Sprouts
I adore these little guys! they are so good on sandwiches, but for some reason I only think about buying them when I am trying to eat healthier.
Avocados
These are another thing I most likely would have bought whether I was on a diet or not. I plan on using these on my sandwiches to replace mayo.. slightly lower calories and loads more nutrition.
Red Peppers
I love red peppers! I never buy them because my husband won't eat them and I have no idea what to put them in, but since I am dressing up my food, I will put them in my salads, sandwiches, and egg whites.
Grapes
I love to much, so I got these for a healthy munching option
Romain Lettuce
Darker lettuces is way healthier than iceberg and I think it tastes way better too! I got this for when I run out of baby spinach!
Bottlehouse Greek Blue Cheese Dressing
I can't tell you how incredibly happy I was when I found this. I love salad, but only if I get my bleu cheese dressing with it! I sadly thought this was something I was going to have to give up but when I was eyeballing the dressings wondering if I should get the caloric bleu cheese and I saw this and it was happy bursts of rainbows and sunshine! It's only 70 calories per 2 tablespoons, rather than 190 which is what my favorite, Litehouse, contains. I had it on my salad tonight not knowing whether or not it would be good but surprisingly it was amazing as the label! They also come in other favorites like ranch, french and caesar.
Trail Mix
This was something semi-healthy that I can indulge in every now and again.
Pop Corn Kernels
I am going to air pop my popcorn and it will be roughly 40 calories a cup (and use nu-salt), this will be my alternative to crackers and chips.
Whole Wheat Croutons
Although the nutrition facts looked about the same between these and regular, something just seemed incredibly yummy about them.
Low Sodium Ham and Turkey
I have been eating lunch meat for lunch almost every day the past few weeks, it's low in calories and filling but the sodium has been killing my daily sodium intake. I got these two to help out with that a little bit.
Myzithra Cheese
I love a little cheese on my salad. My husband got me hooked on this! It's cheese made from sheep's milk (but shhhh don't tell him, if he knew I think he'd stop eating it), it's not the best in sodium, pretty high like almost all cheese but the calories are not bad and since it's strong, a little goes a long way. For those who like to eat at The Old Spaghetti Factory, this is actually the cheese they use to top with.
Almond Breeze
At only 60 Cal per 8 oz, it's 40 less than skim milk and it tastes amazing!
Fat Free Cream Cheese
Sometimes I like to use take my lunch meat and roll it up with some cream cheese in the middle, it's a technique I learned from my dad, he does the Atkins Diet. Although this method isn't quite as effective for a calorie counter as it is for someone on Atkins, it's still delicious! So I got fat free to help with the calories.
Chobani Greek Yogurt
I haven't tried it yet but the amount of protein (14 grams) and calorie count was unbelievable, I couldn't resist.
Fat Free Sour Cream
Not as good as the regular stuff but it helps with the calories so I'll have to endure it.
Low Fat Cottage Cheese
Basically the same way I feel about the sour cream. I love cottage cheese and don't want to give it up, so I'll save some calories.
Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwiches
These are great when once upon a blue moon I get an ice cream craving. I am a savory craver, I usually only eat ice cream because it's there.
Frozen Corn
Not a lot to say about corn, it's good and it's a veggie!
Frozen California Mix Veggies
I love this mix! it has all of my favorites!
Dill Pickles
They are basically no calories and have the nutrition facts of water, but I love the taste and they are a good snack!
Natural Unsalted Peanut Butter
I love peanut butter and I love to have a scoop before working out with half of a banana. this is a lower sodium and sugar option to that.
Oatmeal
On days I decide to work out in the morning, this is a must for breakfast!
Sugar Free Coffee Creamer
This morning, I consumed 18g or sugar in my coffee creamer. It doesn't help me with calories (though don't let the company fool you, it says a serving size is 1 tsp compared to the regular which is 1 TBsp, so it's the same amount of calories), but saving on the sugar is nice!
Tuna
I don't eat a lot of meat, but some Greek yogurt, chopped celery and egg whites mixed with a can of tuna will make a great sanwhich and high in protien.
Truvia-
A NATURAL 0 calorie sweetener, how could I say no?
Nu-salt-
I have to eat salt on almost everything! This is my alternative with 0gs of sodium.
We already had things like eggs, bread, meat and so on I just had to get out and get some healthier options for myself. The main lesson I learned is if there are healthy foods you love get them for yourself! I have been skipping out a lot on the foods I love because I am the only one the eats them... and if that's the case for you then get a small amount. If you live in Washington, Idaho, California, Nevada or Oregon, I suggest going to WinCo (my absolute favorite grocery store since I moved somewhere that has one), You can buy so many items by the pound! Anyway, I just got a few great things from the store and I wanted to share with you!
